Surrey Bike Race Challenge ...with a paddle boat, pizza, and ice cream option Saturday, August 21st — 2:00 p.m.
Washington Park is one of Denver’s historic rest & relax leisure spots...with two ponds, elaborate playgrounds, an old boat house, and some of the metro areas noblest trees. This Saturday, consider joining this single and family friendly outing to rent surrey bikes and take to the park trail. (If you’ve never seen a surrey, it’s a four wheeled bike, with a top, that seats from four to six, plus.) If peddling on land isn’t your style, you can always opt to peddle and float...in a small boat that also has a top. Or, hit the obstacle course playground. Or, if you wish to avoid undue exertion altogether, there’s the gentle stroll in the park’s popular gardens. Afterwards, you’ll have the option to dine in the classic venue of Bonnie Brae Pizza (in business since 1934)...then across the street to Bonnie Brae Ice Cream...a one-two culinary pilgrimage that is divine, heavenly, and generally accepted as a requirement (by several world religions) for a full and meaningful life.
An afternoon & early evening of fun, food, & fellowship for all ages…see me or the Program Table to sign-up and obtain car pool information.

The Hopeful Heretics...on the Rockies road
A gathering for those who think so far outside the box, they've put the box in the recycle bin.
Sunday, August 15th, attending the Rockies/Brewers service
Road trip for thinkers to one of Colorado’s largest mega-churches, Coors Field. Worship this Sabbath will be co-led by devoted local leaders and a group of traveling missionaries from Milwaukee. The prayers are free, but the peanuts cost. Those interested in exploring this ancient expression of faith should see me. Heretic credentials not required...all are always welcome (but our group tickets are limited).

Mid-week Sabbath-Light
walk, coffee (or tea), fellowship...stress reduction Thursday mornings...
Sabbath — the word finds its root in a Hebrew word meaning “to cease.” To slow down, to de-connect to more authentically re-connect, to take in that which nourishes, to renew. It’s too good (literally divine) of an idea to leave to one day of the week. So, how about a mid-week, mini-Sabbath devoted to the stress reducing combination of, 1) a gentle walk (in Belmar Park), and, 2) a relaxed visit to the Whole Foods coffee pub.
The schedule: Gentle walk & coffee/tea — 9:15 a.m., meeting south end of Belmar library parking lot
For questions and/or to express interest...please see me.

Great Green Mountain Save-the-Lego's Drive
benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver
...from the folks at Habitat:
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is looking for community organizations to organize Lego collection drives and we hope your group will participate! In September Habitat for Humanity is hosting a new event called Plastic Fantastic 2010: A Lego Building Extravaganza! Plastic Fantastic is a fundraiser that invites teams to compete against each other in a Lego building competition. The proceeds from Plastic Fantastic benefit Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build, a Habitat committee that fundraises and builds a house by women volunteers.
...our church can support the Plastic Fantastic event by contributing Lego’s to the cause (thus saving Habitat the Lego material expense)...to that colorful, noble end…
Lego's Needed: If you have Lego-brand Legos, standard size, and your children or grandchildren are no longer using them, we would love to have them. We will need thousands of Lego's for this fundraiser, so we need as much help as possible.
...so, if you have retired Lego's in need of a new building challenge (or newer Lego's you wish to contribute to the mission) please bring them to church and either, 1) place them in the Great Green Mountain Save-the-Lego's Drive bin located in the west end upper hallway, beneath the Aging Body, Young Mind Resource table, or 2) see me.
Save the Lego's…help Habitat for Humanity!!!
